What are your other hobbies?

Tell me reefers, is it just reefkeeping or are you into other hobbies?!

I find it interesting that I share some random things in common with most of my fellow fishkeeper friends.. and I also find that a lot of the same people are very busy people lol.

I’m into a million hobbies. Some I’m not really sure are hobbies, and I’m new to reef keeping but we’ll say it counts.. but for me personally:
- Horses, I’ve ridden since I was 5 years old, always have always will, competitively and just for fun. My horse Sammy is 24 yrs old and I’ve had him for 17 years!
- Skiing - every winter, any weekend that I can!
- Dogs.. I love dogs. And cats, but mostly dogs. I compete my aussie in agility and go to AKC trials several times a year.
- Painting, drawing, sketching.. any kind of art really.. I love projects and new crafty things to work on
- Rally racing. Cars in general. I take my STi to the track every once and a while! I’ve also never owned an automatic vehicle lol.
- Kayaking, hiking, camping, boating, all the outdoorsy things.. we do it.
- ball pythons.. not so much any more (no time for it) but we had a really cool breeding pair and sold several clutches! Only have the lone male now.

I’m sure there’s more, but reefing is my newest hobby.. but I’m crazy and like to keep busy. :) what about you?

Wait... There are other hobbies?! Haha! I vaguely remember doing other things before getting into this hobby. Things like woodworking, sewing, quilting, soapmaking and so on. The stuff regular people do.

I wish someone would do 6 course dinner parties for me! That's awesome! I attempted the guitar but gave it up to try stained glass because of my musical ineptitude. Haha.

Scuba- lionfish hunting, fish catching for my aquariums, collecting for my aquariums, underwater photography, fish & coral ID (mostly to help with collection and I know a lot already from reef keeping)
Freshwater planted tanks- nano and monster fish
Crystal shrimp breeding
Leopard gecko breeding
Pets in general (rabbit, geckos, gerbil, dog, Sulcata tortoises, a ton of fish tanks...)
Embroidery
Painting, sketching, sculpting, drawing, etc
Playing saxophone (all 4 types)
Surfing (wake and ocean)

And I’m trying to learn how to play piano!

Life’s busy but my philosophy is that I gotta do what makes me happy and live life while I have the chance. :)

Here's mine..
-Track racing; I currently drive a 2019 Corvette Stingray and am on a waitlist for my 2021 Corvette Stingray LT2. Love Classics.
-Camping, Trekking and Backpacking. I've climbed volcanos and several peaks including Mt. Everest (base camp). Was supposed to summit Kilimanjaro this year.. but Covid.
-House plant keeping
-Tree identification of the High Sierras
-International travel
-Fire dancing (fire eating, breathing, fire hoops, fire whips and dragon staff)

I'm new to reefing too. And will slowly offset my time from house plants for corals. Slowly giving away 40+ potted plants :)

Used to be a gearhead, but 15+ years of dealership shenanigans will definitely burn a guy out.

I suppose I'm still somewhat of a gearhead when it comes to jet boats. ;)

Gaming. Not much time for it recently, but had always been a great way to unwind when the weather sucks.

Does parenting count? Coming up on two years, but I'm really, really enjoying it. Best thing I've ever done by a long shot.

I design stuff for laser cutters and also build projects for my wife’s garden.
Other hobbies are building things for fish tanks like custom frag racks and other things.
And fishing, shoreline or kayak.. does not matter, as long as I’m fishing.
