How do you receive them?
You get trophy points for reaching certain milestones on the number of posts or the number of likes that you have. If you go to your account page you can click on the trophy points and it will link you to what you got them for.
They don't do anything that I am aware of, but hopefully I am wrong about that and someone will correct me and tell me all the wonderful benefits of having a high score.
 
First time I ever noticed getting a trophy was the other day. Saw that it came with points for some reason, teied to figure out why... I guess the mystery of the points still hasn't been solved?
