My WaterBox 230.6 has a pretty large custom Refugium.

I plan to make it a shallow lagoon habitat with a few small pieces of rubble rock. For lighting I 3D printed a suspension mount for an Ai Prime 16 thats hanging around on the shelf in my supply room. I've always loved Mangroves and had great luck growing them in my Frag tank. I really want to do something cool to "plant" them in.

I was thinking about 3D printing a slope or drop off rock and adding holes to slide the trunks and roots down through. I have 5 Red Mangroves on their way now. I could pretty much size the shape to whatever I want but the dimensions of the fuge are 14x16x9". I would probably print it about 10-12" long by 6 ish wide and 3 ish tall. Depending on the shape I choose especially if it's the sloped ones like the brown and tan one I would likely smear a thin layer of Silicone on it and stick sand to it. I'm using the Brightwell Coral Lagoon Substrat. So essentially 3D print across the back with the Mangroves sloping down to the sand bed.

What do you guys think?

Any ideas or favorites are welcome!

I have been 3D printing for years including a ton of stuff for my tanks but it's probably worth noting I print in PETG or TPU which are both reef-safe. And in case anyone was wondering, 85% or greater infill is required for models not to float.

after seeing your control board im sure itll be amazing!
Lol thanks! I have been reefing since 2004. Took about a 7 year break and then came back in 2020. This is my dream my dream tank! I upgraded in 2022 from a 35 Seapora Cube to a Waterbox 110.4. Took me two years to grow out of it! Sure I could trim my Acros... But I like huge colonies! Plus my Purple and Hippo are getting pretty big for an 80 gallon display. So surprisingly the wife allowed me to get a bigger tank. As I said, it's my dream tank so I'm making it a dream set up. I'll definitely keep y'all posted and I have a few more "project writeups" to drop too! Stay tuned!
