I've never had any luck getting one to eat. I'm always so jealous of those that succeed in this. I have had a few. They eat aptasia and then whittle away to nothing. I've tried feeding them everything in the book and I get nowhere. : (

That's probably the only thing that I haven't tried. Where do you get those? LFS or online? I would love to try another one as I love the fish. I'm just so hesitant as I've watched a few of them die and I hate seeing that. There is an online vendor that only sells them if they are acclimated to mysis. Tried that route too and they simply ignored every piece of mysis that floated past them.

How do you feed the worms? Do your other fish eat them too?

I got them from a place out of PA. My mystery wrasse pair, my black clown pair and hippo eat them also. My gbta loves too. Many report great results feeding lps with them but my CBB and wrasse steal them so I use other foods for that. The other yellow and purple tang will not touch them. I just suck them up in a bastor and shot them into the tank. They r kept alive in the fridge. Mine r 3 plus weeks and going strong.

Copperbands are beautiful fish. I wouldnt mind having one to control my tubeworm population.

I would also like to try blackworms. My fear is that other boisterous fish would get to them first.

Yeah I have heard they are super picky eaters but if you get them to eat prepared food you are golden. Agreed blackworms are the first choice. Jerl are you looking to get one?? Always check to see of it eats mysis before you buy.

I feed copperband butterflies aptasia and mysis shrimp. Sometimes it steals a clam.

I used mysis and prawn roe "nutra mar ova" to get him eating then he ate pellets daily after that...

Mine will only eat PE brand mysis...although I've never had the heart to not give him the PE mysis when he refused the other foods for a couple of days. Oh, he did decide he likes acans too, which is why he lives in the 65g now :(

what corals have you guys had yours go after? debating if it's worth risking one in a LPS/Zoa tank that will have chalices, acans, and lots of zoa's of different sorts.

I have a marginalis (CBB cousin) who's staple diet is minced scallop and shrimp. I kept him in QT until he learned to vigorously attack the food. Now he competes in the DT no problem. He'll eat PE mysis and live blackworms too.

I was lucky to find one eating well at the LFS so had no trouble getting him to eat. In the wild they eat worms and small clams using their long snout to poke in the rocks. I have read that blackworms are the best and that bloodworms are not so great since they are actually an insect larvae. I fed mine three different brands of frozen food alternately and he seemed to like the Rod's food the best.

Chopped clam and mysis shrimp. He eats out of a pen cap to keep the fat tangs away from his food.
