There are so many things I love about my tank!!! Seeing the progress of a healthy tank and seeing my coral and fish thriving is probably the best. I also love the countless things I need to do to keep my system going (great for my ADHD!). Finally, I love the great community this hobby and R2R has introduced me to!!
Very nice! I am ADHD as well. Yes it's great to have the ability to mess with stuff to subdue our active minds........

right now I am loving my 2 tuxedo urchins. I had red turf algae starting to get a strong hold on my tank and I tried a lot of stuff. Mexican turbos will mow it down, but really just keep it from getting to bushy. all other snails and even a common black urchin didn't make a dent. These two tuxedo urchins work 24 hours a day and my rocks are looking great!
This was when I added the Mexican Turbos (they really only mow the grass, not clean the rocks free)

First on list would be my magnifica anemone w/ my clowns, and then as I look at tank my lavendar tang that always seems happy and pretty will probably see me looking and get all giddy thinking it's going to be fed, it's very attentive and curious about me, always makes me smile.

And, then I may once in a while look up at my octopus canopy I built myself, I still smile about that one.

I’m still in the honeymoon stage with this tank. [emoji7][emoji7]. I worked two years on my upgrade. Planning, collecting equipment (it’s expensive! Lol), and working on the stand.

I upgraded a 35 and 55 into a 140 on Labor Day weekend. I LOOOOVE the height. A lot of tanks have to be looked into by bending over. Mine is perfectly eye level. I love a lot about my new system, but that’s pretty high on the list. I love it so much, I haven’t even put the doors on the stand! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I am still very new to the hobby, and my tank is only about 3 months old. We just added a few beginner corals. (Hammer, Duncan, Zoas, GSP, Blastomussa, and a Blue Metallic Mushroom). What I love most is watching my six year old daughter become immersed in the underwater world. She spends a lot of time in front of the tank just watching, and I love it. All we have as far as livestock goes is 2 clowns, a Yellow Watchman Goby, Tiger Pistol, and a few Scarlet Hermits. It's only a 36 Bow, so we are pretty much done adding fish, well maybe after a Royal Gramma in a few months.

I love watching the sps frags encrust onto the rocks, it makes me so happy. I don't think I would ever own an aquarium without an Apex, it's already alerted me to multiple problems that would have gone unnoticed, I'm definitely a control freak now.

For me, no matter what size tank, what I keep, what equipment options I consider there is one thing that is a must.

Live rock.

Second place is an RO/DI system. Those two things are the start for everything else that goes into the tank. With biodiversity and quality water I know my system can handle just about anything.

As much as I love the look of both my Reef Tanks, the reason I stay in the Hobby is I love BUILDING, GROWING, IMPROVING, CHALLENGES to learn and DIY, and Photography. This hobby has it all.

If I ever achieve a completely finished tank, I think I'd be so bored I would shut it down....Possibly move on to a different hobby.
One of my tanks is close to that point after 20 years, and I feel like shutting it down to start again.

The thing i love about my reef, is alao the challenge of growing corals in my living room and keeping the water stable so i can amaze myself when i see my zoas start spreading or euphylias start to form that bubble and starr growing new heads! ALso, trying to take decent pictures and comparing past pics to pics of corals more recent to really see the growth! Never gets old and enjoy a piece of the ocean in our living room! Trying to invest in a better camera but a few photos of some past and present shots to see the progress....

My favorite thing about this hobby is the contemplative nature of it. Even if I not looking at it at that moment it helps me. No matter how stressful and emotionally consuming my job is I can focus on the next step of change and growth of my aquarium and move on from the stress of my work. If my mind is racing as I try to go to sleep, I can turn my thoughts to this hobby and calm the flow of my thoughts. I find myself in a better place.

Having had medium sized tanks for decades, I've really enjoyed the smaller size and simplicity of my current 12g:

I particularly enjoy viewing all the smaller inhabitants 'up close and personal' as well as observing the corals' interactions over an extended period of time.

Ralph.
wow, Ralph, that is stunning.

I love watching my Magnificent Foxface graze on the rocks and I love watching the corals open up and fluoresce as the lights ramp up on the tank in the a.m.

Any pics of your mag fox face? I’m trying to decide if the extra coin is worth it over a regular.

Regardless, I’m gonna call him/her Michael J.

Here is an ok pic of him. It doesn’t really do justice to his color especially the red on his dorsal fins. We call ours Eric Carr! We named our purple tang Prince Rogers Nelson.

I love that it truly is it's own little ecosystem ... that everything from the microscopic bacteria inside your live rock to the coolest fish you might have, all depend on each other for balance ... and we can do that inside our homes ...
