What does "Featured" badge mean

Help an old guy out and explain what the featured badge means? Maybe I'm senile but I don't remember seing it next to a regular post :thinking-face:

I believe they are highlighted posts selected by mods for more emphasis, but @revhtree or @Peace River can answer for sure.
