Hey guys I started getting some green string/hair algae. Is there anything that eats this?

I’ll second both pincushion and tuxedo urchins. Absolute lawn mowers. I’ll never have a reef without at least one or two. I don’t care if they eat coralline algae either.

aren't they known for grabbing loose corals and carrying them around for camo?

Try hermit crabs. I have some hair algae, too, and yesterday I saw one of my hermits pulling at it with his claws.

I have a bunch actually and they don’t seem to touch it, I upgraded my skimmer tho and that seems to help with the bloom.

Mine was banished to the sump because of the white trails it left through my only few pieces of live rock in the new tank.
Once coralline grows over the Dead Marco rock, I may put it back in the display. They are really cool!

What a beautiful fish. Anyone have experience with these?

I have one. They are actually pod eaters. They don’t pick at the algae to eat it directly, but to search for microfauna to consume within it. Very cool fish, but won’t make a dent in the algae in my experience. I would still vote for an urchin or two!
