What are we talking about, the BRS method of quarantine, or something else?

I've been seeing it referred to with new builds
I'm still not sure what you're getting at 🤷‍♂️

I think this *might* come from when BRS did a video on QT'ing fish, where they talked about 80% of the benefits with just 20% of the work, but I'm not so sure that their plan was a good one, and I'm not understanding what else you may be eluding to, but please let me and others know 🙂

It’s a method for new reefers to try to be successful. The motto is 10% effort for 90% results. It’s about simplicity and setting one’s self up for success.

Is this from BRS, or where does this come from?

Im assuming you're referring to the Serious Reefs 90/10 build guide for softies / lps tanks. It's designed to improve first tank success and reduce the ugly stage to a more manageable situation. I am doing it personally, it's working out pretty well. I just don't have enough cleanup crew yet.

Serious Reefs is ran by Ryan Batcheller who used to own BRS and was the figurehead for the youtube channel before he sold the company. It's a subscription based service on youtube, patreon, and his website. I will say, the subscription is well worth it.

Simplicity is an option?
Well… that is up for debate 🤣

I think we can make our reefs as easy or as complicated as we want. No matter the latter the fundamentals still remain. We’re all a little mad here

Thank you everyone. Too late for me on this build.
not really tbh, you're just further along. Basically, at the point you're at (assuming you don't have coral) ryan recommends adding some live sand from TBS, waiting a week, then turning on the lights low (around 25%) for a short photoperiod. Then slowly ramping it up over a few weeks before putting coral in.

Where available, the TBS sand is extremely important to the 90/10 method.

I suggest heading over to seriousreefs.com and signing up. Use the code "FREE" and you should get a 7 day trial and can watch the videos talking about the 90/10. Ryan and Terence just did a long form podcast talking all about it.
