A return line down low? Does this mean you have to use a check valve on your return line?
No it's connected to the upper one which has an anti-siphon hole. Very little water goes back down the sump. Just the entire overflow (which is small) and a tiny bit of display tank water.

I'm finally returning to the hobby, again... lol. I have been looking at the Elos and the Redsea Reefer, rimless of course. Any recommendations or am I missing the new hotness. The plan clean, heavy colored Anthias population with shelf SPS corals to build cliffs. I appreciate any ideas or recommendations. Anthias sps corals and cliffs you say? Cough elos, though i own a redsea reefer. My old elos tank had some prime meat real estate to work with

Keep an eye on Kordon. They have the new tank from Aquarium Systems (Europe). Called L'Aquarium, which received great attention at the recent InterZoo show in Germany. Rumored first appearance in U.S is said to be at the upcoming SuperZoo trade show in Las Vegas, next month.
your right their tanks are amazing, big sump I just went through there web http://arcadia.systems/aquatic/aquarium/ any suggestions I am really seeing myself going for the 750 L'Aquarium I was at my LFS going to see what it's going to run me for a red sea Reefer XXL 625 and he showed me this web and its already available red sea will take another 3 months to get here! it's just confused me after more than 8 months planning now I have to make a choice again ?????? Aaaah let's vote if you all had no tanks going for a new build and these are the two options you have (Aquarium system L'Aquarium 750 or red sea reefer XXL 625) what would you go for no branding just build quality and what can be modified

Just curious...what is the advantage of these setups versus any other aquarium?

Here is what I don't like about the Red Sea Reefer series and Elos tanks.

Red Sea
1. Sizes are too small
2. Black Background
3. Overflow is huge and unsightly in the center

Elos (I own one)
1. Expensive
2. Prior generations have a loud overflow, stick to the latest overflow design, ie. quiet overflow. However, I am not convinced its as silent as the Herbie Style overflow. I am seriously thinking of modding my Elos to accommodate a Herbie Overflow. The noise kills me.

Elos has a better build quality and offers better dimensions for tanks but the Red Seas are very very close in build quality and I am sure they will continue to offer bigger sizes. I think the Elos Stand is better than the Red Sea. If Red Sea can change the overflow design and make it sleeker/smaller in corner, then I would buy the Red Sea Reefer, no doubt about it.

Hope this helps.
