So I’m looking into getting tangs and want to keep multiple together so what size is the minimum size for a tang

Hope your ready for controversy, lol. What tangs? A Tomini stays fairly small but others grow quite large, over 5" easy. So first, decide which your targeting, then check compatability then adult size. Only then can you answer what size tank. Or get a 250 plus then you can do what you want, lol.

I have had smaller tanks and now have a 225 (72x30x24). Honestly they need 300+. My sailfin does laps. It’s just big enough for my yellow and hippo tangs.

If you want multiple tangs go big.

In all seriousness I think length of tank is most important. 4ft minimum for small Tomini types. Longer the better. Also leave swimming space when aquascaping. Kind of related but "how" you introduce multiples of same species can have a great effect on success.

Length and width are bigger deal than height to a degree. I’m currently waiting on my 96x30x25 and, if Lord willing I’m around for longer, I want to do a 120-144 build by 30-36x 25.

So a single hippo tang require at least 180 gallon do you thing 300 gallons could keep those three
My understanding is that blue hippo tangs should not be kept in anything less than an 8ft 240g tank…

Depends on the tang… you want multiple larger ones a 8 foot plus tank is the way to go. In my 300 I have: purple, sailfin, orange shoulder, unicorn, atlantic blue, and a clown tang. Mine is 8 foot and they are very active
