Again what makes the Monster Mash so special the fact theres next to non left because to me it looks like a watermelon don't get me wronge a nice one but still a watermelon so is the name and fact that most have lost theres make it desirable I would think color and hardiness would make it desirable.

I completely agree......

I would love to sell everyone a frag of Melting pot but at the current time i have been trying to get my mother colony back to the original colors. So as of now i will not touch the colony and wait until it color back up. In about 6 months this chalice will be popping again and i will have my expensive camera to get a good close up, attinic, and daytime. I just want to make it clear i dont own or have ever used photoshop.

I don't think anyone is saying you did. Furthermore photoshop is not the only editing software for that matter haha :D. Its just hard to get a picture to represent every true color of a coral, just point and click. Some editing is required, namley brightness, and white balance. I was just stating that i had only seen one pic of the mother, and that pic has been around for awhile, and it would be nice to see an updated pic regardless of how good or bad it looks. It would be nice to see a progression back to the original colors and it would be nice to know the path you take to get those original colorations back. I understand you not wanting to post a pic, as your probably afraid it would devalue your coral. Not trying to be rude.

Just curious, what's the history and lineage on the Flamethrower? Who has the original colony and are there more than one out there or has it just been distributed?

Well that's a very good question. I am the original namer of this coral. I don't even know the name of the person that I traded for it. I do believe that there might be one or two very similar small colonies out there. But mine is the true Flame Thrower. If you go to coralpedia.com you will see my name under the picture. I know I have seen other people out there calling there's the Flame Thrower but they did not get there's from me. I have not even released the first frag yet. I do not believe that there is a large colony out there. So to answer your question I have the original colony of the Flame Thrower. And I will be sure to include lineage with any frags that I sell. Which hopefully will be soon.

I can not say if it is or it isn't. All I can tell you is I have the true Flame Thrower. It's like a copyright. Just because his looks similar doesn't make it the Flame Thrower. He has nothing that can prove if it's from my colony. I thought that's the whole purpose of having lineage. The original question was who has the true Flame thrower. Up until I released pics of my chalice and then announced the name for it there was no such thing as the Flame Thrower Chalice. I think that's proof enough that I have the original. If you want a piece of the original Flame Thrower Chalice with lineage you'll have to get it from me.

That is my listing. Let's just say a few people have pre-BPC lineage and we all got it from the same person you got it from, but you did pick a good name for it.

I would say in general if you score a cool frag from someone there is no way that you can say you have the original. The person that you got the frag from has the original. You have the name credit but not the original. Also coralpedia is not 100% credible. In my opinion coralpedia is more of a marketing ploy than an authority. I have seen several mis identified species on coralpedia.

Well I have no idea if this is true but maybe you should come up with your own name instead of misguiding people that your selling my coral.

My understanding is that it was picked up at a frag swap from another hobbyist by a few people. This was one instance where I just don't care about who named it first or whether it is "Blue Planet's Flame Thrower" or "Coral123's Flame Thrower." There is no doubt in my mind that it is the exact same coral.

Wow. I would not expect that comment from a sponsor. The way I see it is that if the frag come from the same colony, its the same coral. Naming a coral makes it easier to describe how it looks like without a picture.

By the way, I might be getting another shot at the Monster Mash.

No offense taken at all. I just dont think i have to prove anything to anyone. Everyone put a different value on each chalice, and i dont really care if the coral i have has no value i will still keep and like just as much as i did. I want to see someone photoshop or use some kind of editing software to get a photo that comes close to my chalices color. Enough said and done.

Yep your right you don't have to prove anything :D, I was just simply stating that it would be nice to see a recent picture of the chalice, to see how well the colors have held up over time. It kind of like a mystery chalice, since no one has seen recent pics, thats all i'm saying.

Ktar, you play it right, the Melting Pot would worth $$$$ per frags. Hadn't seen chalice looks like that.

I've already said they are from the same colony, and I'm not trying argue with anyone. As I've said before, more than one frag of the original mother colony was made available and they are all from the same hobbyist, and that person is the one who found the coral to begin with. Blue Planet Corals was one of a few who got a frag. There aren't too many frags out there yet, but I promise I will do my best to keep it healthy and growing to spread it around so others can enjoy it.
