Hi There,

I'm looking for a return pump for a 40B build. I need something very quiet too much noise triggers me and the Jabeo I have my 125G is way too loud for my comfort.

I prefer AC over DC because of reliability. I was thinking of an Eheim CompactOn or Sicce Syncra pump. The Fluval SP2 was another candidate, but it's not adjustable unless I use a gate valve. Rossmont was another but the freaking controller is more than the pump lol. The Viper 3.0 by NYOS seemed reasonable. Any others you would recommend?

I'm using a 600 GPH Ghost Overflow with 1" drains and 3/4" return.

Btw - if you suggest EcoTech or some other name brand expensive DC pump - you might as well not post because I'm not getting it :p. I want Italian or German made pumps but not going to blow $300 on a return pump.

I'm using a Sicce Syncra on my 40B, if it wasn't for the noise of water movement I wouldn't ever know it was running ;)

I use the Current USA E Flux DC Pump 1050gph on my 42g. I know it's not AC like you want, but it's only $140 and SUPER quiet. I have it on MAX power and it's still super quiet. Great investment. You can opt for the 1900gph unit for only $150 on Amazon... it's on sale and it's Prime delivery :p

Just recommending a really good pump i've been using for over 2 years now and no issues. May I add, that I have never cleaned it either in the 2 years i've been using it?

EDIT: Sorry, I'll be honest, I did have some issues when I FIRST got the pump, however, the issues were from the LOOP controller (only if you're going to use lights, etc... from Current as well). After I ditched the LOOP controller and just used the stock controller it comes with, no more issues. I used to have the lights too so I wanted to integrate them together. If you use this by itself with the provided controller, you won't have any issues.

I actually have the loop system and wish I got the E FLUX DC Pump instead of the loud chinese firecracker lol. I'll think about it because it's not EcoTech xD. 1000 GPH is too much for my needs and I would definetly tune it down. Most AC's i'm looking are going to be in the 700-800 GPH range.

Fluval for AC. I run a RO Varios DC and it is silent. The Varios is packaged well with add-on's like the float switch, 3rd party control, etc. One touch feed mode in 15 minutes and 60 minutes.

Which model jebao?

I have the 4000 and have no idea it's running except for the visual water movement.

I have EcoTech products, and the quality is up there on this pump. Very sturdy and quality built.

$150 for a DC 1900gph pump is a steal - act fast :p

Whoa! Where can you get that deal?

I am not in the market but I am sure someone could benefit from that. Have they fixed the longevity? or was that a previous model?

I have a Red Dragon 1500 (AC model) on my skimmer that is dead quiet. I imagine that a return pump equivalent would be just as quiet. For my main return pump, I just replaced a Jebao DCT-12000 with the Neptune COR-20 and as stated above, they are also impressively quiet.

I purchased mine over 2 years ago and it’s still running strong for me, no complaints thus far. The deal is on Amazon , I checked earlier today

I am kind of partial to my Vectra L1, I can't hear it run, no vibration and it is linked to my reeflink so you have the ability to monitor the pump and calibrate it from time to time.
