What is this gunk on my macro algae

There's gunk on my macro algae. Anybody know what it is or how to deal with it?

If it shakes off, its just stuff that settles out of the water from food and alike. People have it build up in the sump and you can see it on bare bottom tanks and have to clean it out where the flow builds it up. If it doesnt shake off, then I got no clue!

It looks like it is just detritus that has collected on the macro. I would just take some tank water out in a bucket and shake it off and then put it back in your refugium :cool:

Thanks. I thought it was some sort of algae actually growing on the macro, but I think you guys were right. I just shook it out in a bit of tank water. Guess I should have tried that from the beginning.
