Just green algae, no harm.
What kind of live stock do you have?
Any CUC in the tank?

Btw, Welcome to R2R my friend.

Welcome :)

Well second Q is easy... urchines eat algea...anything everything they can including the purple coraline. They arnt anymore likely to Cause an algea out break then any other critter that makes waste(aka everything)

First Q...I'm not really seeing the green taking over the tank...lookes pretty normal atm. Maybe a close up...desciption of it?

Im sorry about your father... but what an interesting way to keep his memory!

Success in reefing really is about knowledge...about the critters about the chems. Read, watch videos...more you know better off you will be.

As far as the tank in the second shots...it's still looking really good. Thats some healthy fish, a nice looking condy, sand beds clean, glass is as well...even the stars are looking ok.
