What is THIS?!

Thought I’d seen just about everything… Anybody know what this is? I thought it was just a sponge at first but then I noticed it was covered in little hairs/cilia.

Its hard to do any better without a submersible camera. Taken with iPhone 13. Maybe this is a little better.

Was there a soft/leather coral in that spot? Maybe near, around or above that little ledge???? Looks like a dying soft leather coral to me.
