What is this?

Sorry, I've tried to take a better pic with my iPhone, but can't. In the center on the rock. It looks like half mushroom half anemone. I've fed it before and it eats like an anemone too. It appeared randomly one day and has since grown to the size of a quarter.

looks like a nem of some sort- really tough to tell what variety from the photo (understand it's an iphone, and somethings better than nothing.) Would wager it's either a really big aiptasia, or possibly a curley-Q nem of some sort- either way might be worth trying to get a clearer pic to make sure if you want it or want to get it out before it multiplies like a rabbit at Pfizer's factory.

I take back my previous post- doesn't look like an aiptasia at all, nor a curley-Q.

Has the body of a bubble tip or long tentacle...did you recently add the piece of rock to the tank?

Nothing new has been added to the tank in quite a while. 6+ months. I have a gbta and it looks nothing like it. It seriously looks like an anemoshroom haha. I just fed it a tiny piece of krill which it happily ate. I've touched it, bare finger, no sting. It does close up some, much like a zoanthid, when touched. I'm née to this, so I'm definitely puzzled.

Nems won't sting your palm, has to be an area less calloused, but looks like a Cindy nem to me.If you want to see if it stings try the under part of tour forearm

The body looks more like a plate coral with large tentacles.

I've looked at pictures of condys since that seems to be the popular vote. I can't, however, say for certain that the pictures match my specimen. I'll keep researching condys though. Do I keep it?

Nice try! I still don't have any idea what this is though! Anybody? It was suggested that it might be a Condy 'nem when it was smaller, but it doesn't seem to have that resemblance now. :/

I think I'd place a Condy right up there with Aiptasia or Majanos...lol.

Condy anemone are Atlantic species. There are no clown fish in the Atlantic ocean. Condys are just as likely to EAT fish as they are to host a clown fish.

im not sure but the body lookes like a fungia or something in the family... my question is how many mouths are there? ill have to check the the post i looked at before and ill link it

One mouth, right in the center. For the longest time it looked like a mushroom, with tentacles. Why can't this be simple, "oh, that's obviously a _____, stupid!" lol
