Everywhere online I have heard that being as close to zero as possible is ideal.
If you have a tank full of Acros....

SPS = clean water of around 2ppm NO3 and nearly undetectable PO4 at 0.1

LPS = highly nitrogenous water at around 10-20ppm NO3 and PO4 still rather low at 0.5ppm

How should I raise my nitrates?
Reef Chemistry section. I just post this and discovered quite a bit of knowledge

I have a a 30 gallon and I have four clown fish and a neon dolly back, I have flatworms so maybe if I got a six line wrasse it may help with that and possibly raise the nitrates? Or would that not work well? All of the fish that I have right now get along really well.
