What is your species that you wanted to take care of but you can't for some reason?

What is that species of fish/invert that you always wanted to keep but you can't because for some reason? (they live in the deep sea, they are really expensive, they need insanely big tanks...) Mine is the viper fish [Chauliodus] this species of fish look amazing and they have a surprisingly long life span (40 years). Is a shame that they can't be kepth in captivity since they live in the deep sea, even scientists failed to keep one more that a few hours.

Hands down an octopus.

I know they have no place in home aquariums, but my god are they fascinating!!

Actually many species make great pets. Much different then a fish in that aspect but still quite different then say a cat or dog.

For me it would probably be masked angelfish.

My longer-term plan (post retirement) is to have a truly huge tank so that I can keep a variety of naso tang species. For some reason I find them fascinating …. even though they are mostly just big and grey. Assuming they'll hit 15" or so, means a 16' tank.

Porcupine puffer, I could have one now but it would be a pet fish that I would have to care for so I won't have one. :)
