I've had this tank up and running for a little over five months now and the past two have involved battling this algae. I have looked all over the internet, but can't find out what this stuff is, it's very soft and slimy. The only inhabitants in the tank is a small molly miller blenny, four BTAs, three hammer coral, a frogspawn coral, an encrusting monty, and an unknown piece of SPS. Everything looks and acts fine.
My current tank parameters:
Ammonia-~0.1
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
pH-8.0

How old is system. Are you running gfo or other phosphate and nitrate reducing agents. Does it look like snot with a bunch of air bubbles.

The tank is over five months old and I used live rock from my current setup to seed the tank. I am running GFO and carbon in the sump. It doesn't look like snot, but it's squishy, fairly dense and quite slimy. There are a few air bubbles here and there, but not that many over all.
