The algae does not come off the rock at all when I try to siphion.The "alga" is most likely the cyanobacterium Schizothrix.
In my experience phosphate removal doesn't help. Schizothrix can be removed with a hose during water changes and stays away after doing this a few times.
That's a good thought but I have Mexican turbos in there and they are eating it. Not sure if they would eat hydroids?Looks like the hydroids that I have in my tank. Kalk paste does the trick for me. I thought it was algae at first also but if you look really really close they are polyp like, almost like zoas. Google hydroids and you will see what I'm talking about.
