To my knowledge it’s discosoma mushrooms that have vivid coloration, and the swirl pattern in other colors like you see on old school jawbreakers, the candy.
Here’s my Kryptonite jawbreaker

So can any discasoma technically be a jawbreaker?

Could any of these ever technically be one? How do people get new forms of them? The orange one is a. Iron man but I’m not sure what the greenish blue one is

There’s a few color variants that are generally accepted as jawbreakers to my knowledge. I’m not sure about the technicalities.
Any ideas of what these types could be worth? I know none of these are jawbreakers just kinda curious of how the identification works. It seems weird to me that one coral can be called something and another that could even look cooler without a special name can be hundreds of dollars cheaper

Normally you can see a jawbreaker for its texture on the body

So this wouldn’t qualify as one either? Can any mushroom be a jawbreaker if it’s hot the quality’s of one even if it’s not a special name?

JB's are yellow with a hint of orange hue, which tend to develope red/green/purple marks through its life and propogation. Keep in mind that the JB will not show their full potential in color very quick as they have to grow and reach a certain size and/or spend a certain amount of time in an enviorment.

People often mistake the Electus for a JB, but electus shrooms tend to have a green hue, more so than having the yellow/orange to their body. The color is also a metallic sort of color compared to a flat color from JB's.

To add on to what i said, The marks on the JB's are usually specks EXCEPT for the red which can be a line sort of smear. Very rarely will you see a green smear/line and ultra very rarely will purple even show up. If you end up getting purple over the years, then you sir have got yourself a $5000 mushroom!

Ok thank you. I knew none of mine were jawbreakers I was just curious of the differences between them. Are all jawbreakers have to be yellow or orange? And also any ideas on ID of any of my other pictures I posted?

Well, youve got red mushrooms and blue mushrooms and what looks to be a nice yellow yuma.

Now to answer the jb question. Yes and no. There are certain jawbreakers that have come from home aquarium that end up losing some yellow due to red/green and purple taking over.

Ill explain this easier with pictures.

So the left mushroom is the most basic version of a JB( this is also a baby from the mother on the right), which you can find people sell for $75. It is basic yellow no other color marks (which can develop over time)

The JB on the right has developed red marks and is probably the oldest JB from the set of three.

Eventually all JB's will develope more color with time.

Then youll eventually if you are lucky enough, get a JB that develope more colors such as the
one below

Also, keep in mind.... Mushroom corals are corallimorphs.

corallimorphs meaning not true corals.

*They share traits with corals and anemones, but are distinctive enough, per se, to have their own classification section.

Discosoma Anemone... Disc Anemones

Oh ok awesome thanks. Jawbreakers are my next coral I really want. I’ve been starting to get more into mushrooms and anemones and zoas vs sps after I lost my favorite birdsnest I’ve had for eight months and it was getting big due to low alk I think. Do you know anything about iron man mushrooms? How much are they worth and how to get them to get better color? This is my iron mans, I have a bunch all on different plugs but they don’t get the best color do they need to get bigger first or what? It seems like a lot of my mushydont grow that fast in my tank right now any tips to get the fastest mushroom growth?

color depends on lighting, phosphate and nitrates.
