Really more of and acropora guy, and my current tanks are set up with that in mind. I have all types of coral but figured if i can keep acropora alive then the others will take care of themselves, just lower in the tank. I recently acquired another tank and decided to focus on LPS with this one and would like some advice from the torch pros. My torches do ok, but its hit and miss, and they don't always flourish. So what parameters and PAR do you find that your torches love. Thanks

i'll add some pics so its not totally boring

My 2 cents is that I get excellent polyp extension when I have a pulsed/ randomized flow. 5-8 seconds of still than bam half a hurricane from the gyre. a random picture of the colony that got broken up. Much more polyp extension on my remaining heads. Man I sold these way to cheap....

Having just picked up a Apogee MQ 510 par meter, my first thought was to start a thread just like this one, but figured I'd just bump this one and see if we can get more replies.

What kind of par numbers are people using for their torch corals?

I've asked a couple people I know and both were on opposite sides. One had lower par in the 150 range and a little lower and the other was 275 to 350.

Then I did a few measurements around my tank and the two extremes were 280+ just at the top of the torch corals in the middle to 160 on the sand in the middle. I haven't mapped the whole tank yet.

So post some results people:)

275-350 sounds like a lot for torches, but if it works I won’t knock it. I still haven’t moved any torches in to the tank in question yet. It was kind of a mess when I got it and I’m still trying to get it back in shape. Thinking about trying to upgrade the light, it’s an older xr15 and it’s not producing a lot of par

Mine are in the 200-240 range and have been growing fairly well. I also target feed Larry’s reef frenzy and use Red Sea ab+daily. Black boxes, 7.7dkh, cal 450, no3 6. Apogee 420 here:)

I’ve got a dragon soul and NY Knicks that sit at 450 peak day and around 300-350 rest of time same goes for my yellow hammer you can see on latest pic. The first pic is that dragon soul when I got it in august 2020, now it’s got 50+ heads atm. My master torch due to space atm sits at 100-150.

Here is the hammer when I got it around same time as the torch, same par as the dragon soul and Knicks. DAC3C63B-2955-4C4D-8A4E-BAA5947A0018.jpeg 77065DA0-CC38-4503-820B-5DABC9022563.jpeg A0EBAB97-E028-41C5-8812-0760CCC1F15E.jpeg

the one thing I learned is that in my tank I cannot have any Aussies every time I tried they just last 1-3months than melt away, I don’t think they can handle same par as indo.
