What are your thoughts? Was thinking 2" Drain or maybe 2 1.5" Drains.

Any suggestions would be great thanks!

I am not a huge fan of trying to max out a drain as far as flow goes. Just seems to my simple brain that any slight hiccup, snail, algae, whatever and things go south. Having a larger drain, tuned for noise, is a better option. If the tank is already drilled, you are more than likely stuck with whatever size plumbing fits the hole...

Agreed, for example I plan to run about 2000 to 2300 gph with 1.5" drains. Reefin if the tank isn't drilled definitely look into a bean animal type system.

I just so happen to be selling a 20" synergy overflow brand new ;) but it's 1.5" drains.

I am getting the tank built brand new thanks.

So is there any disadvantage to going with 2 1.5" drains?

I like the idea of 2 1.5" durso drains
A bean and durso are basically the same, with one open channel and one full siphon. The only difference Is a beam animal has one extra emergency drain. Go the safe route and have your tank drilled for a custom overflow box (synergy,mm,ems) and run the bean animal.
