What size power heads?

Im going to go with hydors for the new 93 gallon cube. It is reef ready so im not sure if i should get 2 or 3 850s, or maybe just two 1150s?

what do you all think?

Phil seriously go with the small Tunze pumps you can angle them alot better then the hydors .

What are the dimensions of the cube?
I have two Evolutions 1400's in a 60" long 100G and they work well. I would think the 1050 or new 1150 would be a good choice. They are all the same physical size its just the impeller that is different bwteen them.

The cube is 36 long an 24 high.

The 1150 might be strong if you have a sand bed or small substrate. I like lots of flow though. I have an old Koralia K-1 at 500 GPH and a newer Evo Nano 425 in a small 16G bowfront that is like 18" wide and I am disappointed in the flow so 850 or 1150 doesn't seem like too much in 36" ?

It will be a black sand bed, more of a fine sand( that's what the wife fell in love with. I think ill start with 2 850s, I like smaller ones for the fact I can add a few and keep the water flow more random with the power heads placed all around.

I have 330 lbs of Southdown sugar sized sand in the 100G, 5-6" deep and its stays put very well believe it or not.

You wont regret it. Start with one Tunze 6045 - should be fine for a little while while you save for a second. (A mostly empty tank should be easy to flow.)

Well i love the hydor (knock on wood never had an issue) i think i may just order one of the 1150s and one of the 850s. Start from there bc i will have my return for a lil extra flow as well.

Hydor has a 2 year no questions asked warranty which is pretty good and their customer service is top notch. They had some problems early on but the new 850, 1150 and 1500 are suppsoed to have solved those issues. I had over 2.6 MILLION starts and stops at 30 second intervals on the last pair of 1400's in a little over 2 years use and only replaced them because there was normal wear on the impeller blades which I felt cut flows a little. I can buy a lot of Evo's and the RKL controller for what one of the others costs. The MP is a good idea but still needs a little perfecting in my own opinion and Tunze needs to look at adjusting pricing to stay competitive now that there are more alternatives on the market, once they pretty much had things locked up but now they are a bit proud of themselves. Again only opinion.

I've got a 3ft cube that's 27" high(150) I've got a mp40(50%), jbj powerstream 1600(30sec interval), and hydor 750. Seems pretty good flow. So I think one of each would be good.
