What’s your favorite sump / brand.

Not looking for build your own opinions. Between known manufacturers of pre built sumps.

If you got to start a 180-200 gallon tank (72” long); what sump would you pick and pair it with? Why?

Many different options out there.

Trigger
Geo
Icecap
Synergy
Modular Marine

I am sure a bunch more that I am missing as well. They are all about the same in the end really.

I will be using IceCap 36XL. It is more than enough for my tank, it has layout I like, and has biggest ATO chamber included out of all other sumps that I looked at. Also, they are cheaper than others, especially if you find them as closeout item due to manufacturing defect (discoloration of panels or some other visual issue)

So which you (yourself) buy?
I like trigger system.
And I will go check out synergy now.
Thanks for the response.

I've owned several over the years.

EShopps: Whoever designed these things has never owned a marine aquarium. Entire sections you can't get to for cleaning? Never again. Cheapest materials... just no.

Trigger: Pretty good designs. Lots of choices. Used to be good quality, but they moved production to China some time back. Materials are getting thin, not the same anymore.

Bashsea: Made by a guy that knows marine aquariums, out of the best materials, construction techniques, etc. Top shelf. Don't see what you really want? Give 'em a call. Chances are pretty good Steve Bashi himself would be happy to answer your questions. Did for me :)

I have no experience with the others... but Royal Exclusiv Dreambox? Someone want to send me one to review, I'd be happy to do so :D

I have a Trigger 36 on my 185gl but if I had to do it over I would pic one of the ones with the included ATO. Make sure you get one that has the adjustable height for the skimmer whether or not you're planning on one.

Sorry, I have no experience with prefab sumps (never owned one... it's just too easy to DIY). If I had money to burn, then maybe I'd try one.

Will you be hard plumbing or soft plumbing this beauty?
Hard with one tank done with red pvc and the other tank with black pvc. Also a matching bio reactor and 2 match media reactors and ato. Feel free to check out my build thread!

I was just checking senergy and bashsea.

Bashsea are very vey nice (better be for that price!). Both to have a lot more space than other sumps (even the triggers). But double the price!

But we do get what we pay......

You definitely get what you pay for, my bashsea ran me a little over 2k.

I bought mine at ReefPalooza in Chicago last year, direct from Steve Bashi. Yeah, I got a deal :)

As with anything in this hobby, you pay for quality (unless you can find what you want used!)
