What to get for a frag kit?

I'm just getting started with coral and would like to have the tools on hand to frag them. Is there a good kit to buy or would it be better to just piece a kit together? Thanks!

That looks pretty nice! Does it have everything that you need or is there something else that you would like to add to it? Have you had any problems with it rusting? I saw a couple of reviews that said they've had rust, of course rinsing and drying will help this. Thanks!

No issues for me. Like you said I rinse and dry them after use. They are crazy sharp so watch your fingers. The glue that comes with it isn't much to brag about. I use gel super glue and have had no problems. The only thing the kit lacks is any sort of saw to cut acans and the like. Honestly though if you a fragging those you need to invest in a gryphon or comparable saw.

Thank you for the info! This will be on my Christmas list! I have an Omni-2 Plus Wire Saw for stained glass, I don't think I could talk my husband into one for coral! :)

I bet you would be surprised what you could talk him into lol. I mean it though. The scalpel with take skin off real fast. Personal experience talking there. 55.00 is a lot of money, but I feel you get what you pay for. If you would like I will pull mine out and show you the condition VT hey are in after being used weekly since may.

Haha, you're totally right, I can talk him into almost anything. Right now I'm working on a bigger tank, looks like it will happen next fall, so I'm not going to push for a saw!!! Thanks, you don't need to pull the set out, I believe you!

Try to find a science surplus store around where you live. They have everything from scalpels to large bone cutters and its a fraction of the price of a whole kit. You can buy only what you need too.

I have the Dissekt-Rite that we discussed above on my list! We draw names for Christmas, so I didn't want to ask for something to expensive. I think this one will serve me just fine to start. Of course I'm still a bit freaked out about fragging. I guess I will just have to suck it up and dive in!;)

That would be pretty cool, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that where I live!

+1 on this. My fiancée works in a lab and we buy supplies for her this way and I get to use the stuff she buys lol

Google it :p You might be surprised, I didn't know about mine for a long time. Granted its 45-60 minutes away from me, but to go there every other year or so isn't bad at all. Plus it is easily one of the coolest stores I have ever been in.

I googled it all it brought up were supply stores about 3hrs from where I live, but no science surplus stores. Oh well, it was worth a try. Maybe there is something online, I'll google that too! Thanks!!!
