I've had a LOT of fish over the years. I started with a FOWLR way back probably 25 years ago, and have had small and very large reefs along the way. My current tank is an IM25 lagoon that can be seen in the build thread linked under my name. I've had a lot of favorite fish through the years too - a one-eyed yellow tank, a firefish, and a super-personable mandarin. But, the fish that easily takes the prize as my favorite was a lined fang blenny (Kenny). That fish was a PITA sometimes - when I turned off the in-tank pumps, he's try getting inside of them just to hang out. I had the nozzles taken off of my return lines for awhile - and when the return pump was off to feed the tank, after he was done eating, he'd back into one of the return lines and just survey the goings-on in the tank from his perch. He'd sleep on top of my flipper algae magnet (even though I made a nice black ABS house for him to sleep in)! My favorite fish used to be a powder brown tang because it just had tons of personality, but Kenny the blenny had even more. Great little fish.

This should be a fun thread. What was/is your favorite fish, and why did/does it stand out to you?

Definitely my cherub angel, always bugging the clowns to play with him (not aggression, it definitely looks like play behavior), follows me around the tank, swims up to my face, photobombs all my pics of frags I’m trying to sell. And he actually threw a fit when I moved his favorite scoly because the nem was getting too close. Didn’t even look at me for 3 days then I started hand feeding him some nori bits and he forgave me. It was amazing. He’s also gotten really fat from me giving him treats (you can see in the last pic where he’s hanging with the clowns) I love this guy so much.

I had a bluethroat trigger 20 years ago that I swear is the smartest fish I ever owned. I just can’t keep them with my current setup sadly. Would love to keep if I ever do FO in the future.

I like engineer gobies, especially in groups. They're fun to get when they're really small and then watch them grow into the adult phase. I also like how the colors and pattern change.

When I was younger than 10 my parents purchased me a book that showcases fish native to Australia. I saw the Harlequin Tuskfish and said to myself one day I’ll have one of these in an aquarium.. I had zero idea that salt water aquariums even existed. I’m 33 now and read that exact same book to my daughter.. but we can look at OUR REAL Harlequin Tuskfish together in our aquarium :) not only the most stunning fish in my opinion but full of personality!

All triggers, if I had to pick one it would be a Clown trigger, although I currently have 5 the Assasi is a close second followed by a Blueline. Note the video might not play on some Apple devices.

Gosh, hard to say ..... been in the hobby for 35 years and have probably kept north of 1,000 fish. Currently, my favorite is a zebra tang - very cool and unsusual. Had a group of tuka anthias years ago in a NPS tank.

My LFS had one last week - surprisingly inexpensive as well. Think they had $45 on it. Gorgeous fish.
