I used to be huge into clam keeping, but the rarest clam I have ever seen, in person, was a true blue Squamosa in Orlando FL at a shop called Sea in the City. It was extremely healthy and absolutely gorgeous.

I have seen other clams that could be considered rare, but the blue Squamosa is the most memorable to me.

The rarest clam I have ever owned was a hybrid Maxima/Crocea clam. It wasn't gorgeous, but it was definitely interesting! :D

I know what clam you are talking about. Sea In The City always gets nice clams in. I go there about once a week. Even LiveAquaria says the all blue Squamosa is very rare to find and will hold a much larger price tag on it.

Yep I have a bunch of Aussie buddy's that bought them at that size a year or so ago and they grew to between 4 to 6" in about a year. They all claimed that they lost their vibrant colors though.

Really? That's very interesting. John's looks pretty big in his tank pics, and still pretty blue. I wonder why your frineds didn't have luck with the color...

Too bad there isn't a way to import these clams. I know a distributor in Vietnam that harvest thousands of maxima clams every month. And their prices are extremely low. Sigh.........

All these claims that someone can easily get a B&W maxima, but no links or proof...

C'mon... daddy wants a nice zebra or galaxy maxima!

They appear to be all gone. Any idea what the asking price was?

Thanks,
CJ

A "rare clam" is a variety that Skinz has not owned at one time or another...
