What's going on with BRS

Pretty much done with BRS. Just can't get the things I want from them anymore. Their choice, not mine. So I guess the truth is I didn't leave BRS they left me. Recently I couldn't get the Aquaforest Salt I use, out of stock for weeks. Forced me to switch to another salt and I chose Fauna Marin (cleanest salt I have ever seen). Now changing over my current UNLS to the Fauna Marin System and BRS doesn't carry the products.

I am having the same issue. They no longer carry most of the brands I use and like. They have been bumped to the end of the list for online stops, unless I need an oddball plumbing piece. Sadly they are also slowly discontinuing those too

I almost didn't believe you at first when I read your reply about fittings. I went and looked and you're right, 70% off on most of their plumbing fittings and pipe. At this point I've already started researching where to buy bulk 2 part ingredients because it sure seems they're working to strip everything out Ryan worked hard to research and provide himself for us.

Saltwateraquarium.com has been nothing but great since it has opened. I’ve never had a bad experience.
I have begun to order from them and Premium Aquatics. These seem to be the only online LFS that carry the bulk of Fauna Marin Products.

You can go to BRS right now and see that they have recently posted a free jobs heavily oriented towards marketing, so a month or two ago most of what they had listed if anything at all was a packer for one of their facilities. Now, I suppose This is aperture hiring so when they mentioned relocating to one of those three or so locations that could be mistunderstood.

My consistent issue is that Only once have I received a sump (out of maybe 8 or so)from BRS that wasn't damaged, clearly opened and resealed or entirely destroyed, no joke. And the one that I didn't get in new condition was a replacement.

The honest worst situation I've had to deal with in retrospect from ordering supplies from any company was trying to purchase the on purchasable aqua Forest 980 that a customer was very particular to have as the core of his new filtration system. Turns out everything you see in this picture is what is used to package a 70 lb sump

I used my hands to open it and two people to carry it. Not because it was heavy but because it would have fallen out of the packaging probably just ripping one side of the cardboard box off if I tried to carry it myself.

So what's the solution? Just automatically send me another one which arrived on even worse shape.

About a month passes I lose the commission because the customer thinks I'm some bumbling idiot who can't buy a sump in one piece. The customer service rep at BRS agreed on at least part of that. You can't buy this sump. They won't repack or inspect sumps as according to them, like many other items, they receive them directly from the manufacturer and ship them out in that same exact packaging. Repacking wasn't an option as they did not have boxes large enough to fit the current one in and in terms of material only had bubble wrap peanuts and standard packing tape. Of course I got a refunded but as I spent the initial down payment I asked on buying materials for a custom stand and decided to finance the sump figuring I'd have the job done before the first payment was even due. Nope, lost $70 (and a lot of time). Was "kindly" told I could just keep the sumps. Actually I wasn't allowed to send them back....... I suppose this is one method of dealing with products that can't be RTV'd

In the end I was told something along the lines of they won't reevaluate a situation like this unless it adds up to a certain percentage of loss for the company. Loss for the customer over loss for the company. If BRS was shipped these sumps in this exact packing then in retrospect they probably had some damaged ones and nothing on the boxes indicated that they were factory sealed and never opened. Anyone should have been able to tell that there was no way it was going to ship like that and just cancel the order explaining the situation.

The Aquaforest 980 isn't popular and I could only find 1 video of a European store unboxing the next size down, which was delivered on a pallet......

Horrible packing by AF and BRS
