Thank you for your opinions.[emoji2]

Zoas are doing great. Even with the algae problem.

I've tested all 3 tanks. And all are the same I test every weekend. The other two aquariums are displays. And this is a frag tank.

I use all Salifert test kits this particular tank parameters are.

Alk 8.2Dkh
Calcium 480
Iodide >.01
Phosphate 0 or undetectable
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 8.3
Salinity 2.026
Temp 78.4

I don't have this problem in any of my other tanks. Zoas are growing like weeds but don't like the algae problem.

I mentioned in my previous post that this tank Zoas grow better than my other aquariums.

Could it be the eggcrate leaching something into the water?

No fish in this aquarium. I do have snails to help eat it. The algae doesn't seem to hurt the snails I have astera and cerith.

.
I have led lights same as other two takes and just as old. 4 months.

I don't think flow is a issue
I have great water flow along with sea clone skimmer. With a filter box that I have media in it. And a power head.

Thank you,
Christopher

I assume the salinity was a typo? A good idea would be to post pictures of the tanks, both full tank shots, and closeups of the problem areas.

It could be lack of fish. You’d be amazed how well tangs or rabbit fish could keep algae under control. But it could also be related to some chemistry issues.

I thought I uploaded the picture guess it didn't upload. Try again.

Thank you for the responses.

It's a 10gallon aquarium. Same algae on the bottom.

Can't really clean the glass since eggcrate is a tight fit.

Remember nitrates and phosphates are zero. Any ideas. Eggcrate came from Lowe's.

I Rember 5 years ago eggcrate would leach chemicals into the water but would cure after several months. Us this my issue in such a small water volume?

I have about 200 frags in it of Zoas about 70 different species.

I also don't dose any food just iodide and kalkwasser

And salinity is 1.026 or 35ppt

Looks like it might be dinos, which can be caused/aggravated by low nutrients.

Yes! I agree. I thought it was diotons it was a little stringy than what I am used to. Found a good article on removal.

It said basically that this algae is consuming my nitrates and phosphates as fast as it can therefore my test show zero.

It recommend to increase nitrates to 2 or 3ppm it will then bloom and spread even more rapidly until it can't spread and it dies out. The article recommend not to change the water until the cycle completes itself. I noticed my other aquariums went through there cycle and it cleared itself. It just wasn't so stringy like this one. It basically covered everything with a thin film.

Will try what you all suggest. What do you think about the information from the article?

Should I try it?
