Had this for 5 months and never noticed this before not sure if it's like a oyster or part of the frogspawn. The 2 "mouths" open and close.

 
Possibly a spiny oyster. Looks like a filter feeder though, which is a good thing.
 
I'm blind from the shakiness, but I'm guessing a barnacle from the sounds of it
