I’d try moving to the sand. On level ground. Wondering if the slanted rock is preventing it from fully opening. It looks like if it fully opened it would roll off the rock.
I have had Maxima clams tipped completely their side and still opened up fully
that really doesn't look good. how did you acclimate it? do not place maxima clams on sand. they need to have rock underneath to attach to and prevent predators. but I do agree that it shouldn't be place on a slanted surface like that either it'll just roll down. find a way to wedge it. Did you also purchase the clam holder kit from Algae barn? I strongly recommend anyone getting a smaller clam to also get one of those.
What are your parameters and lighting like they love good lighting and good parameters you may just need to let it adjust to your tank
Algae barn killed a squamosa and a replacement squamosa I purchased by overdoing the ice pack. Extreme cold temperatures can do them in
Same, I live in Wisconsin it gets cold early. When I ask for replacement I told them about the ice packs they did it again anyway. I didn’t bother to contact them again will not buy clams from them anymoreOoooh it might be that. It was a bit cold outside when they arrived and they had two ice packs on them
