Hello, I just posted something and when the screen refreshed Someone had already Liked it. He must have a Super Computer orrrrr mine is ready for a Upgrade. Lots of talk about tank
controllers but not much about what we use to do the talking.
I have a few questions about Intel Cores and AMD Rizons. My son and I built him a system a couple of years ago and he says Intell is hype and I say you get what you pay for.

I thought this place was full of computer geeks. Im looking at the I5 or 7 . I have an Envy all in one touch that I bought 6 or 7 Y ago and it has been a pain. so another question is brands.

I use a Pixel XL with Tapatalk for the most part.

As far as PCs go, I have always been an Intel Nvidia guy. AMD has been making great strides though so it's hard to go wrong with either. AMD has more bang for the buck.

Shopping for a desktop, suggestions ? Dell, HP, Asus
I've always liked and had good luck with gateway computers. But my most recent one is built custom.

If we are just talking surfing the net, a 5 year old computer is going to be just as good as a new computer for the most part, cpu wise at least. Your internet connection speed (transfer/ping) is going to be just as important. Upgrading the memory and updating the hard drive to ssd (NVMe if supported) will add years to your computer. Unless you are gaming or into niche programs that need the computing power, full upgrades just aren't required.

As for brands, I haven't owned a name brand desktop since the early 90s.

Lenovo, or whats better known as the old IBM.

Best bang for your buck without the added price of a name brand

99% of PC's(laptops or desktops) all have the same internals. When you buy a name brand(dell, hp, gateway, etc) your buying the name and a case.

I have done it both ways since the 80's. My son and I built his and I sent 850 and then had to add windows, and he still has no MS-office, Just bought him more ram and another HD so add another 250. Its a screamer!
I spent 1100 for the house cpu. I had the old one for 7 years and enjoyed the blue screen for 6 of those. ;Blackeye
I feel buying an engineered pc, with all components, drivers, and software that are specked out and installed is the real bargain.
Taste great / less filling :p

BSOD's happen when things aren't built right, or do not have the proper drivers, or hardware faults. Knowing how to read the event log goes a long way into helping BSOD's.

I went to college years ago for computers(never finished so don't have a degree. I used to be M$ certified), and do some minor PC repair in my free time for people in my tiny town. I've built several machines and none have seen a BSOD. My oldest built machine thats still running is 15 years old running a P3 with old IDE drives, and an old ASRock MB(used to be ASUSTec but now a company of their own). It has never seen a BSOD to my knowledge.
