I just went to Amazon to pick up another bag of citric acid and found that it's $40 for the same bag I paid $15 for in January 2021. Guess I'll switch back to vinegar and just keep an eye on the price for a while. Even if I wanted to buy a 40 or 50 pound bucket (which I'm not going to do), it would still only bring the price down to about $5/lb, close to double what it used to be for five pounds.

I've already come to terms with the fact that my tank probably cost me $2-3k more to setup than it would have 2 years ago. Im conditioned to just not care at this point - as sad as that sounds. Same goes for maitenance items as well I guess.

Everything has increased .
yellow tangs are a great reference .
they were a $20 fish .

when I started , the same bucket of salt was $40 not it’s almost 120

gas at that time was $0.60/ litre
Now it’s almost $2.00 / litre with no end in sight .
In Canada we now have a new carbon tax that’s increased again

Its funny that I just read an article from reefbuilders on the price of energy in UK starting 4/1/2022. Oof!

price of gas and electric supply to British homes has risen by 54% on average from today, and in October it is set to rise even higher

On the plus side, we don't have to entertain the very real possibility of energy shortages like they may in Europe.
Don't be so quick the global shortage will effect us all

Part of my job includes sourcing chemicals. Most chemicals are in short supply and allocations are becoming more common. Citric Acid is right at the top of that list and has been for nearly a year. I cringe every time I need to purchase Citric Acid.
