I have a 40 gallon cube with tons of different coral. The tank is now maybe 3 to 4 months old. I have a bunch of zoas, hammers, torches, leathers and etc. Is there a such thing as too many pieces in a tank? Is it fine as long as I keep my parameters in check? Is it too soon to start wanting to dose?

Look at your alk consumption on the dosing question.

Nothing wrong with coral hoarding.

Lol. How important are the par readings? And how do I know where to set my frags?
It’s good to know the approximate range you have. IMO , a little more is actually a bit better.

Acclimation tonlight levels is key.
Most corals are actually generalist in thier Light needs. So like Xenia say, low would be 50 and I’ve had mine in 700. Zoas are similar.
Acros usually need a min of 175 and up.
Caveat being , with higher nutrients you can use more light.

So the honest answer is , you play by feel.
