Just curious how many other nurses are on here!
I am an infusion specialist and have 2 jobs doing such. One job is at a hematology/oncology practice where we treat cancers of all types, blood disorders, or just simple anemia.
My other job is doing home infusions. I've had patients ranging in age from 14-85 years. I really only see 6-7 patients a month now, as I only do this per diem now, but these patients have become like family as I have been case managing them for close to 7 years!

Cheers to all you others who come home to stare at your fishes and corals after a long day!

My girlfriend is a nurse. Was in a cath lab, but recently left bedside to do a “utilization “ job. Reviewing charts etc before discharge of patients.
I just got into a post bacc program to go to med school…not a nurse but I thought if I can’t or dont want the grind of the time and debt of med school, I would definitely go to nursing school. In fact was my first thought a few years ago.
thank you for what you do!

You know doctors get all the respect, but it's the nurses that make their job easier. If it weren't for nurses, doctors would be lost.

Much respect go out to anyone that does that job. Thankless to be sure.
Truly appreciate the recognition!
There are definitely times we feel overlooked, but I am extremely thankful to work with a Dr every day, who knows and acknowledges what assets his nurses are on a regular basis.

And cheers to you docs who realize how much we actually do!

I'm assuming a private practice?

One of my friends works as a nurse in a brain and spine doctors office. He definitely knows and appreciates his nurses. Hearing her talk though, its the nurses in a hospital that get no love from the doctors. And it's usually those doctors that are the stuck up, know it all, snobs.

Yep, private practice. One doc and one NP, 2 (about to be 3) fulltime infusion nurses.
I'm in the process of getting the next 2 certifications on my list, bc I want ALL the letters after my name.... haha
Nurses are gluttons for punishment and can't/refuse to stop learning . We're a special breed :D

Good on you for continuing to learn.

Me I'm too dumb to continue to learn, executive chef was enough school for me. Only problem where I live, I'm a cook, and not an executive chef like I was trained to be.

Pay is good, so I don't complain I don't have the "title".

I am a disabled phone man, not a nurse. That was a joke perpetrated on me because I posted about caring for my wife who had shoulder surgery and then rehabilitation. Be careful about saying things like "call me nurse Ned" around here.

Critical Care here. Active for 18 years and as I dwindle down to ending the term " Work", I have returned to manufacturing sector for one last Hoorah before quitting entirely - That where Florida comes in.
Also involved with Health -safety-environmental at my current employer as well as Haz-mat and firefighter cerified.

The biggest challenge faced and which will continue is Covid, and Patient/family abuse. Many are unaware what we in healthcare endure (name calling, spat at, threats if something happens to their loved ones and the list goes on).

Holiday wishes to all

Xray Tech here, 34 years at the same Hospital. The first 10+ were nights in the ER (Level I Trauma Center) so I got my fill of adrenaline surges there. I got tired of the same idiots, night after night, doing the same stupid stuff. Lived through the PCP craze. 8 of us to hold one junkie down while we waited for security to show up with leathers. Then came Crack and heroin. But I never lost a fight!!!

I didn't realize just how burnt out I was until after my move to the Cath Lab. The first time a patient said "Thank You" I about lost it. That just didn't happen in the ER. I got tired of the call, and frankly, a little bored in the CCL. See a blockage, put in a stent. Rinse and repeat. A spot opened up in the EP lab and I jumped at it. No weekends, holidays or call. 4 x 10hr shifts. And we get to actually CURE some of our patients.

This is year 22 in EP. Team Lead. Trainer of the new hires. And just a few more years until retirement! I'm ready!!!
