I'm curious what everyone does with there macroalgae. I've been keeping mine in my nano display for a little over a year now and it's slowly taking over our caulerpa is slowly taking over, but I love keeping it. In the display tank, we decided to go a more traditional route with a sump refugium but with caulerpa, gracilaria, and halimeda NO Chaeto. I'm planning on adding hangon refugium for another build would love to see/know what folks are doing with there macroalgae.

Please share!!! Pics, thoughts, ideas

I keep several kinds of macro algae and grasses in my refugium. I have the grasses and some algae that needs sand in 16 oz deli cups with some 'mucky' sand to grow in. Other algae that don't need sand are in various containers.

I’ve never seen grasses in a fuge, I like the idea of containing it in containers. You have a pic of it?

It's not hard at all to keep. The only problem is it grows and sucks up nitrate like crazy- I actually have to dose nitrate now.

If I want it to look pretty, I have to prune it, like you would do with a terrestrial bush. I'm pretty lazy though, so I don't prune too often.

Ya encountered that in the nano tank. Was wondering why we weren't seeing any coral growth. Now that I've run it in a fuge its nice to see a good balance for our nitrates.

No, but I'll see if I can get one today and I'll post it here.

The idea was new to me a few weeks ago when we were out collecting shrimp and snails at a beach just off an estuary.
