Running a 750xxl. I was just curious where everyone keeps their water level at going to their emergency drain? Mine is about 1/4 inch below the emergency drain. I was just wondering if that was right?

Have you ever turned off your return pump as to see how much water is returned to the sump. If your symptom breaks are set high enough as not to allow water from the tank to return to the sump you should be fine . I have a few sumps that are fine as if I ever lose power;to not have a overflow all over the floor instead of inside the sump

Having more than one Red Sea tank, I can say each tank is a little different. One of my tank's was about a 1'4" below the drain. My current tank is more like a 1/2" below the drain. Best advice I can give is find a spot where you get 0 gurgling/gushing sound. For a new tank, expect to make minor adjustments over the first few months, especially as equipment breaks in and you change settings around with skimmers/reactors/powerheads/etc.
