I've been all over Texas. I found Houston hot and extremely humid, and starting to boom. El Paso is nice, Hot and dry. I like it down by the border, Laredo or McAllen. Austin is were the young crowd is.

Houston peeps ... The Humblefish express arrives in Houston on Monday! :D

Anyone got a suggestion for a good extended stay hotel near 249 (between 99 and the Sam Houston Tollway)?

Looks like Extended Stay America is out (according to Tripadvisor) unless I want to start studying fleas, cockroaches, etc. :eek:

Hmmm..townplace suites on Louetta looks nice, and they have a full kitchen! There are pockets of new construction up that way. Some road work, but nothing too drastic. Biggest growth is with new construction. Its near the Tomball area "medical hub" as well. Quick access to 249 and beltway is always a bonus :-)

Look in Tomball. A few new places there that might fit the bill. Willowbrook is OK, but would not be my first choice. A little less secure.

Willowbrook is where I live, a lot closer to 249 and beltway 8. Tomball is about a 15 min drive from willowbrook.

Ah! I believe Hewlett-Packard is what brought Mrs Humblefish to TX if Im remembering correctly from a previous post...

Welcome to Houston. I'm in the aatascocita area so not far from where you'll be landing.... at least in Houston terms. Tomball is great. Lots of rent places and you'll be close to HP.
