Kind of a weird title I know
Oh the mucus of some of these corals smell awful! Just had to move a ton of stuff for like the third time in three weeks because I am terrible at placing corals.
In my opinion, leptoseris is the worst, smells kinda like a summer garbage can.
What do yall think?
I didnt know corals smell!

Hmm, the cindaria sommelier. We've invented a new occupation.

Corals have scents? I wasn’t born with a sense of smell. Fascinating.
I have a sense of smell, but not a very good one. I prefer black coffee, dark chocolate, peated scotch, and barrel-aged stouts just so I can taste something. To me all coral just smell like the beach.

I've never smelled anything when a snail dies.....but I HATE the smell of Rhodactus mushrooms. The worst.
Really?

I like it, always smell mine out of curiosity.

It’s like one of addictive stinky smells. Like when people smell their dog and cats paws I imagine

Never smelled anything from a mushroom or any soft coral really. Leptoseris genuinely hit me like a truck, I was inspecting one that I was about to attach epoxy to and I got a whiff that made me sneeze a ton, stuck in my nose for half an hour at least.

I brought back luscious seaweed a few years ago from Florida and my multitude of tangs ate it in under 2 hours like salad

Literally the definition of tangs! Will not stop eating as long as the food is in the tank!!! Hahaha. If I where to put sheet after sheet of nori for mine, it will be gone the minute it put in haha

Couple of things come to mind:

The coral with BJD.

Corals don't have noses, therefore they cannot smell.

The blonde next door almost drowned last week trying to see which coral smelled the worst.

I can’t describe it but the ORA Hawkins echinacea has the most unique smell of any SPS IMO!
It’s a bit disturbing but I’ve grown to enjoy them all!
