I was wondering if there is a guide to which corals will kill each other and which can grow near one another. I see a lot of tanks with corals touching seem to be fine. I am afraid to take any risk in the fear of damage that wont recover. Will acros kill other acros if they touch?

Generally the acro’s available for you to purchase will do fine. It’s LPS corals that will send out stingers polyps to kill other corals. LPS like hammers and frogspawn are the ones most commonly doing this. Som hammers can coexist together so it sometimes becomes a trial and error issue.

The corals that sting that I can think of are Euphyllia, mushrooms, hydnophora, Pavona, acans, chalices, pectina, favia, lobos, brain corals, fungia, elegance corals, galaxea, and blastos. I’m sure there are more though, and hopefully someone else can list those for you. In general, you should leave space between any of the corals listed. For some corals, they will not sting others of the same type.
