Which pump should I use??

I'm building a 100 gallon rimless set up and I'm trying to decide which pump to go with. Any suggestions out there?

"Safe" flow through a 1" overflow bulkhead is considered 600 gph, so after considering your head loss, that would be a starting point.

It's a coast to coast overflow. It has three 1 inch holes . I'm using a bsm 150 sump. I'm looking for a return pump

I currently use Marineland pumps. I have two of them in my 125G so I have redundancy in case one fails or I have to take one offline for cleaning.

However I have also had great luck with Ocean Runner, Mag, QuietOne, and Sicce. They are all great brands with reliable pumps.

I don't keep SPS but I have a Pondmaster 9.5 on my reef and that gives me about 20X turnover, between that & my PH's skimmer pump & what not I have really good flow....maybe some more experienced SPS keepers would like to comment but like I said, I have always liked these pumps for their performance/reliability

Mag 7 or 9.5 if it's 600gph overflow or 800 gph mag7 and you won't have to throttle it back.

I always err in the side of more for my tank, always have, always will. I like the reeflo pumps, run a hammerhead in the 180 dt and the dart gold on my 75 qt. the hammerhead is probably running at 50% through the tank and 50% right back into the sump.

If you are looking for in-sump, reliable, affordable, little head loss, and variety in gph look into Taam Rio Hyper Flo pumps. They are a huge improvement over Mag pumps,IMHO. The HF17 is 1090gph with 10' max head, at four feet would give you 750-800gph. Or if you want 10x turnover look at the HF 20 it is a little closer to 1000gph at 4' for less than $100. They have ceramic shaft and bearings ,don't heat up like Mag pumps, and use less wattage.

No problem, I have a 110g eurobraced with a true c2c(4') and the BA three drain setup just like you are talking about. I'm changing out my external pump for another in sump Rio HF 20 because I liked the last one I had so much. I also have a 200g DD which I'm running an HF 26 on, 1590gph. I got that pump for $78 shipped on Amazon
