Which would you put in your tank?

If you had to put one in your tank, which would it be?

I have both. But moved the Xenia to a separate tank because it got a little too overbearing. The gsp does get everywhere but I find it fairly easy to remove if it’s growing where I don’t want it. And it’s purty ;Smuggrin

If you had to put one in your tank, which would it be?

GSP. To solve the issue of them being invasive, I have placed them on my back wall. The idea is to have the entire back wall covered with it. This isn't original to me. I saw another reefer do this and it looked incredible. Additionally, it's easy to scrape off/prune if needed.

I have both, but I would go with GSP instead. The color is amazing and it’s easy to maintain by separating from other rocks or stick to back glass.

Do most of you just superglue it to the back glass or a different method . I’ve seen rubber bands, glue, glued to a drag rock that was then glued to the back glass, and so on

I had GSP in my old tank - I just kept it on a separate rock ... I had Xenia too, the pulse movement is really neat for a tank that isn’t worried about it being invasive

I have both! They make great filler pieces and the Xenia adds a lot of movement and energy to the aquascape.

I had both at one point but the Xenia for some odd reason we could keep it and it died off. There was a colony that also tried to make a come back but our cloves ended up dominating the rock. Now the gsp sits happily in our QT tank slowly crawling up the glass, unless the clove has something to say about it:).

well i was given some gsp that was peeled from rock. it is all curled up from the shape of the rock. i tied it to the rock i wanted but did not adhere it flat. will it flatten to the rock by itself? should i try to glue it down? It is sending out polyps but then retracting them. I ask because i have not tried to glue anything before but am getting some thick gel from BRS today and could try this afternoon. BTW the rock is small enough to pull out and work in a bowl or on the counter and then replace in the tank. Thanks!

Also both here. Xenia an be managed by using a pair of forceps, curved, and clamping on the base. Once there gently move left or right slightly pulling and off it should come. Repeat. I do the same with a few paly's that I have which are just as explosive in growth.

GSP I do something similar. My base rock is Pukani so the GSP has a lot of nooks and crannies to spread over. As it does this it will bridge the gaps which makes it easy to cut and remove. Honestly my issue isn't with these but rather rose bubble tip anemones that are spreading and stinging everything. Really starting to damage my sps test frags. Unless they are on the glass, which they do not do, they are impossible to remove without damaging them...
