This tank is doing very well. The corals that were previously struggling in my Fusion 40 are now healthy and growing.

Back to Basics

  • Instant Ocean Salt
  • 13% water changes every two weeks
  • Vertex 150 skimmer and Cheato fuge lit by a Kessil H80
  • Stopped dosing kalk via ATO due to inconsistent seasonal evaporation
Recent Improvements
  • Kessil Ap700 now running at 70% on the 3rd color from the bottom with Red and Green at 20 (Radion CoralLab emulation)
  • Bare bottom - thanks Jason Fox on the Jake Adams/ReefBuilders visit
  • Acropower 7 mls twice a week
  • NoPox 2 mls everyday
  • Reef Roids - thick paste syringed on every possible polyp twice a week
  • Ran Dr. Tims Refresh and Waste Away protocol for cyano - it worked like a charm
Fish
  • Pair of Saddlebacks
  • Tomini Tang
  • Spot Tail Blenny
Soft Coral
  • Pink Nephthea
  • Green Nephthea
  • Blue and Green Sympodium
  • Cespitularia
  • Rhodactis
  • Kenya Tree

Summer update.
  • Removed built in reef ready overflow and replaced it with a Xaqua INOUT with their hose kit
  • Patched the bottom with laminated ¼ pieces siliconed together, so 2 layers of glass + 2 layers of silicone dampening
  • Added 2 bonsai pieces from Aqua-Tecture
  • Removed Pukani live rock
    • Chipped corals and critters from live rock
  • Put all palytoxin containing polys on one rock (next time I move, it will go in a separate bucket)
  • Left a few small pieces of rock for micromussa, shrooms, and cespitularia
It's been 2 days and my leather are still upset, but overall I am very happy with the new aesthetic of the tank. The INOUT is great, in my tank it creates a gentle low frequency ripple.

For anyone considering the INOUT, the key to making it as quiet as possible is in the lay of the drain hose. Once the drain hose is down under the tank and into the cabinet, it flows the quietest with a small gradient that avoids vertical drops.
