I need some help and/or advice. I have a cycled 210 salt tank with a snowflake eel that has been a great eater until the last 7-10 days. He’s not eating, lethargic and gulping. I also have a Niger trigger with white spots in him and I have been treating him and the other fish (panther grouper and disjardini sailfin tang) with metroplex, kannaplex and focus seachem chemical cocktail in their frozen food. The trigger is looking better but the eel isn’t. Not sure if it all related or not. Grouper and sailfin seem amd look perfectly fine. Open to suggestions.

These spots too large to be Ich. Is fish breathing normal?
These look to be neobendendia flukes but often not this visible and my suspect is skin irritation. I am a little nervous of this named cocktail as I am reluctant to use or recommend these meds in foods especially at same time. Focus is a binder and eel should not recept well to these meds.
Is eel breathing normal and any discoloration?
A video of at least 30 seconds under white lighting- No blue will be helpful.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

It is pretty common for snowflake eels to go on a hunger strike for no apparent reason. However, you said that it is "gulping" - that is an additional symptom that needs to be considered. Can you post a video of it?

Also, a full water chemistry work up would be helpful.

The white marks on the trigger could just be a mild viral disease known as Lymphocystis. If it is, it will go away on its own in a month or so,

Jay

Thanks so much for taking the time. Trigger is eating and breathing normal. The snowflake is breathing / gulping and not moving or eating.

I suggest water change in display and transfer the snowflake and trigger to a separate tank with air stone and treat with coppersafe at 2.15 - 2.25 and monitor amm

The trigger looks nice and fat, I think that’s just mucus or Lymphocytis on its side, it isn’t ich.

The eel is the concern - rapid breathing can be a sign of gill disease or low oxygen. You can try adding an air stone to the tank, but if it was low oxygen, the other fish would be showing some signs of distress.

You could try doing a 5 minute freshwater dip on the eel, and see if the breathing slows down the next day. Eels can be a handful giving them dips though - tough to catch, difficult to keep in the bucket, etc.

I also dipped the eel and not much change unfortunately. Let’s see how he does the treatment. Thanks so much for your suggestions

If it is flukes, it will take a day or two for the eel's breathing to slow down. The white spots on the trigger are not flukes. The trigger could well HAVE flukes, but they don't cause those raised white areas. That is likely excess mucus that fell off during the dip.
