Hey guys I have just brought a 2nd hand CLASSIC 200INT but I’m finding it hard to what’s a good height to have it in the water as I’m building my sump and want to get it right before I glue the glass who has one what height do you run yours
Congratulations on finding a nice used skimmer! I have several #reefoctopus skimmers (not the 200 INT) and I have found that the line were the cylinder starts to taper in is usually a good water height (in your picture, it is just above the Reef Octopus sticker).
What @Peace River said. I have the 200int and I have mine raised up to just that spot. Works great. Be careful, it is a beast and will suck the nutrients out quick.
Ok cool I’ll up old some photos when I get the tank running it’s a 290gal tank but it has cross surport for the glass on the top don’t know how this will affect light
Mine is at the 9-10" range. I keep mine wide open and skim dry to prevent excess nutrient loss. This height helps the skimmer to work easier in my opinion.
I attached the data sheet for the skimmer incase you don't have one. It does say the following about the height.
--Put the skimmer in sump and plug it in. Water level in sump should be 6”-10” as long as
it is not covering the water outlet pipe. Turn the gate valve to adjust the water level inside
the skimmer. The water level inside the skimmer should be an inch above where the neck
transition starts for the initial setup.
