Something I see a little more frequent than I like is hobbyists saying that their clownfish are "hosting the anemone" when in reality its the opposite and the anemone is the host for the clown pair.. Now that we have cleared the air for everyone lets talk about your clownfish!

What inanimate object, coral, or piece of rubble is the host to your clownfish or clown pair? Currently my Spotcintcus Clowns are living in the Long Polyp Toadstool in my lagoon, they don't have a nem to play with so they found the next best thing!

Let's discuss!

That nem clown pair is way cool!

These clowns do whatever they want right? Usually the things we don't want.

My pair just this week decided that the big Space Invader pectinia is going to be their new home. I wouldn’t mind if the female would stop nipping on the back and causing tissue to recede. I’m currently working on a potential solution.

Wow now thats a colony! Hopfully things work out, you bring up a great point that sometimes these bonds the clowns form can be detremental to th health of the host! (Seen this in LPS for sure!)

Agreed as I have had a pair host in a frogspawn year’s ago and caused a few heads to die off. I have also seen some clowns feed their hosts as well. I’ll be placing a piece of terracotta pot behind it to see if that will make them a bit more happy with the situation and stop nibbling.

Good move! Had a maroon in the past that would feed its nem before she would even eat anything.. was pretty cool to watch
