Hi everyone. appreciate any advice on keeping shrimp which for some reason I am losing, when everything else seems to be going fine.
Ok here's the background: My tank is about 6 months old. 90 gal display with 25 gal in a sump. Stocklist is 2 x clowns, 1 x juvenile emperor angelfish, 1 x copperband butterflyfish and 2 small rock flower anemones. There are about 10 small hermits, 2 conchs and a fire shrimp. I let it cycle for 2 months, added things slowly over the last 4 months. Do 10% water changes every other week. I feed half a frozen mysis cube once per day and a live mussel about 3 x per week (only thing the copperband will eat). Occasionally I will add a small amount of frozen blood worms to the mix.
So originally I had a red-line cleaner shrimp, he lasted about 3 weeks then he moulted overnight and never seemed to recover and found him in the powerhead the next day. I replaced him with another cleaner shrimp, he lasted 2 weeks then died for no apparent reason, there was no sign of disease or injury on his body. So I replaced him with a fire shrimp who was doing fine for the last 3 weeks then today hasn't been eating and doesn't look well so I'm assuming the worst.
So I'm a little confused as to what's taking my shrimp out. I haven't lost any other livestock, not even a hermit, the fish are growing and seem happy. I watch the tank a lot and none of the fish appear to act aggressively towards them and there are a number of small caves they hide out in, that are completely protected so they can easily find shelter if they were getting picked on. They all seem to eat fine and especially seem to like the bloodworms that fall to the bottom. My tank does not have much algae in, so the only thing I can think is they are not getting enough food? I do see them eat mysis and bloodworms that fall to the bottom every day though.
Current parameters:
Salinity: 1.026
Temp : 78
Amm : 0
Nitrite : 0
Nitrate : 25
pH : 8.1
Alk : 9
Calcium : 420
Phosphate : 0.50
I am working to lower phosphates and have a small amount of rowaphos in a bag in the sump at the moment. Want to lower that but do it slowly.

. I am not too sure. Hope someone else who has much better experience in this will help out. My camel shrimp and banded shrimp in my 20g are doing great. I spot feed them fish food. Never had an issue. Lets see what others say.
