When I joined, I was already pretty knowledgeable about reef keeping, but I did have occasional questions. I also wanted to share and help new reefers with issues I had when I was starting. I also have a bit of a special place here as I do get to go snorkeling and collecting in the shallow patch reefs of the Florida Keys. I want to share that special perspective with reefers who are landlocked or can't afford to get to a place where they can enjoy the saltwater experience!

I wanted to learn more about reef tanks, but stayed because the community here is phenomenal!

I joined so that I could be bullied and embarrassed into experience in the hobby.
That's similar to mine! I was curious about reef tanks because I had family members who had one, but then I got pressured into having my own.

It felt like l didn't fit in on NR and RC. Their clicks were pretty tight, and they let you know it every chance they got. There was an abundance of knowledge and some great members on both forums but it just wasn't a good fit.
3Reef became my home for a number of years. I can say enough good things about Matt Rodgers. I moderated 3reef until the end.
Stumbled upon R2R and almost instantly knew I was in my comfort zone. Members from other forums started migrating to R2R, and the knowledge base grew exponentially.

You coulda just been a lurker here forever, but you decided to sign up for a R2R account. Why is that?

I want to talk with and learn from other Reefers, and help out if I can. Admittedly I was a heavy fb user before I came here. But over the years, that all morphed into sales posts and arguments. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that R2R actually has many ongoing civil conversations to participate in!
THere is so MUCH about this hobby to learn. I joined for all the experience and info, and now I love the conversations and still learning.

Same here! It’s also cool that we can look back at posts from almost 20 years ago and see the progress that has been made, and some of the old school methods that still work!

I know a lot of Reefers joined to use the marketplace here. I haven’t bought anything on it yet, but I’ll definitely scope it out when I’m ready to get more livestock. Who’s your favorite seller on here?
