Why wont’t my discoma multiply?

I’ve had it for 4 months now and it has only grown in diameter. I’d say its about 2.5-3 inches across and I’ve even tried moving to a lower light/higher flow area and still nothing. In my tank I also have a rhodactis which has only been there for 2 months and it has already split into 3 coral.

My kids have been married for years and they have failed to multiply, I blame their school teachers for telling them the planet is over-populated?

The most difficult thing for me to do when i am speaking with them is to stay off the subject and wait until they are ready, and then it will happen. I seem to be having a similar problem here, sorry.

The image almost appears that there is a glass anemone, or algae or ? that is under the mushroom? These sometimes start spliting on deployment, or just grow in place as you have reported and then one day it might start moving around an leaving babies along it's tracks where it left a bit of foot tissue behind (pedal fission) to start a colony. Once they get started, they can quickly fill up a lot of space.

yeah there’s a bit of algae attatched to the rock where the discoma is attatched to.

Oh I wouldn’t worry….at some point they will be everywhere and you will be questioning all life’s decisions! In my experience, they love lower light (absolutely loving shaded nooks and crannies), lower flow (although they tend to let go and find new places to set up camp with higher flow), and dirtier tanks.
